  • Essay / Globalization of Education - 2006

In the modern era, the term “globalization” is used, accepted and widely discussed in most parts of the world. It is a global movement toward economic, financial, trade and communications integration. In fact, there is a considerable amount of debate around the world around the issue of “globalization.” Indeed, globalization has brought countless positive and negative changes to the world. One of the aspects that have been affected by these changes is undoubtedly education. No one can deny the impact of globalization on education since it has brought about many changes in the education system all over the world. Apart from some disadvantages, globalization certainly has many positive effects on education and the way it is delivered, not only for developed countries but also for developing countries. Globalization is no longer a new concept. Fundamentally, globalization is the process by which different societies, cultures, and regional economies integrate through a global network of political ideas via transportation, communications, and trade. According to Srikant Misra – Figure 1. Education and globalization Nguyen 2, professor at the Integral University of India – in general, globalization has affected many nations in various ways through the flow of information, ideas, technologies, of goods, services, capital, finance and people (Misra). It is a term that refers to the rapid incorporation and interdependence of various nations, which shapes world affairs on a global scale. Mirsa also mentions that “in historical context, globalization has an older origin than most people are willing to recognize. The two trends of the 1980s and 1990s influenced educational policies around the world” (Mirsa). Cert...... middle of article...... International Conference. Internet.
