Essay / Living Life to the Fullest - 1084
As a young girl, I always felt like I had so much to do, but so little time to do it. I was always putting things off until tomorrow thinking, “Oh, there’s always tomorrow, it can wait.” » But as soon as you see life flash before your eyes, everything seems to change. Like every other eleven year old, I was a busy girl. Dividing my time between homework, studies, school sports and even club sports, I was always on the move. I always put off the less important things until tomorrow, never thinking that I wouldn't have the chance to do them. What does an eleven year old child think of tomorrow? In seventh grade, my friend Abbie and I decided to join the basketball team. After a week of trying out, we both found our names on the team roster. We were both so thrilled. As the season progressed, Abbie and I grew closer as teammates and friends. We became so close that I sometimes considered his family, my family. We had a great season together, one of the best the school has ever known, until the end. Two weeks after the championship game, Abbie's mother took her to the doctor for severe headaches. The next day, Coach Willard told us to meet in his room after school to talk about drafts for next year and basketball camps for the summer. thought. Since we met there almost every day before training, no one thought that something so tragic could come out of a simple meeting. When Coach Willard arrived, we all knew this meeting wouldn't be about next year, or camps, or even good news. As she spoke, tears started streaming down her face, which made us all cry. She explained how doctors discovered a brain tumor at the base of Abbie's skull, the size of a golf ball. Some...... middle of paper...... the past, but living each day for its full potential, without regrets. I also decided to live according to God's will and serve Him to the best of my ability. I started doing things for myself. I no longer went to church to please others but to please myself and to please God. It's funny how one tragic moment in your life can ripple out and affect so many other aspects of your life and sometimes even aspects of other people's lives. A few simple words can always change your perspective on so many different things. From then on, I found God in most of my daily activities. I talk to him as a close personal friend, confiding in him in my difficult times, and thanking him for all the wonderful things he has blessed me with, including life itself. He showed me how to live life to the fullest, or “take life by the horns” and “live for the present moment, for today.” Not for tomorrow.”
