Should the United States follow other countries in its quest to end the drinking age debate? The United States can look at other states such as Germany, the Netherlands, and France and see their success. Many teenagers would jump on the bandwagon to lower the drinking age simply because they want the ability to drink, the argument that they can die for the United States but cannot drink and this would take away the “forbidden fruit” of alcohol consumption. drink. A large portion of older generations would jump on the bandwagon in favor of maintaining the drinking age, as they would have to wait to drink, as alcohol consumption has detrimental effects on the brain and alcohol consumption. The government has imposed these responsibilities on us because it believes we have the ability to control our choices. Although the government has given us these rights to use or dispose as we see fit, unless we are tried as adults, it has reserved other rights for later parts of our lives; like renting a car, running for federal office, and drinking. Candidacy for federal public office is established by the Constitution, and for good reason. However, the drinking age has been brought up and debated in recent decades, particularly in more recent decades.
