Gender Equality in SportLiterature ReviewGender equality is defined as the act of treating men and women equally at all levels. When this gender equality is brought into discussion with our constantly evolving sports culture, it raises many concerns (Lyras 2009). Gender equality between male and female athletes has always been a hot-button issue, and even today it still needs to be said that there is not complete equality at any level of athletics. These inequalities come in the form of financial disparities, media coverage or lack thereof, and other benefits typically afforded to male athletes that are not afforded to women (Lyras).
