Essay / Government Agenda - 744
It is now clear to most Americans that the information we receive from the government is what they want us to have. Too often we are misled or distracted from what is really happening by rumors created by our own elected leaders. It's too easy to start a small story that turns into a giant disaster. We are trying to make sense, but our government has a different agenda. It seems unlikely that a nation would not be able to handle or understand the truth. A rumor usually begins with a question and then is interpreted as a factual statement. The process begins an uncontrollable spiral. It's so over the top that it becomes difficult to look back on as if nothing was ever said. It is human nature to love gossip, and a rumor is most often just simple gossip. Thoughts that pile up and are just waiting to wreak havoc. Unfortunately for most, it is difficult to tell the truth from rumors. This leads us to ask important questions about some rumors involving our US government. Was the 2004 tsunami in South Asia caused by an American nuclear bomb? Was this simply a way of diverting our attention from what is happening elsewhere in the world? This suggestion is a tough pill to swallow. Could our own government do something so horrible and cover it up as a natural disaster? I am forced to think that it is impossible that something disguised as a natural disaster could happen. Again, that's the idea. This is the start of a series of rumors to distract us from what is really happening. These accusations are those of Joe Vialls, Dick Eastman and others who published their ideas on world events in "The Rumor Mill News Agen...... middle of paper ... carrying 2,000 marines and not its 500 usual when it entered the Indian Ocean. Our Marines are generally expected to be the first line of defense for the United States, not to assist in times of natural disaster. Some other examples of such cases with our Navy ships cannot be a coincidence. Would these things really have happened if the United States had not been involved? What can we really believe? There is plenty of evidence proposed that this theory could be true, but is it? I remember examples in my own life where a simple question or statement becomes a mass of theories. People create their own gossip based on what really happened. Without people and the media raising the issues that trigger such rumors, we may never know the real truth about world events.
