The idea of a society where there is no freedom and people have no rights can be described through warnings of a dystopia . In the 1984 novel, a country has lost all its freedoms to its government and war is commonly used as a political tool, as our government has done in the past. As our country continues to become the dystopia described by George Orwell, we see war being used as a political tool to support the government's own agenda. By using wars to control the social opinions of the people, the products and wealth of the country, and the opinions of politicians and government officials, the governments of the United States and Oceania can promote their own ideologies to of others. reference for comparison, the military state of Oceania controls the external part, the wealth and the internal part through the use of war. In their society, Outer Party citizens were described as "a nation of warriors and fanatics, marching forward in perfect unity, all thinking the same thoughts and shouting the same slogans, working, fighting, triumphing, perpetually persecuting – three hundred million people. “all with the same face” (Orwell 64). They only had the thoughts given to them by the government, which created no possibility of revolt of the people. The only thing the Outer Party knew was to love the government. They had no entertainment, everything was for war, and otherwise everything went to antique stores where it was illegal (Orwell n.pag). The main goal of the country was war, and everything else was considered nonsense. This creation of non-war stores also helped the Party trap people who were resilient, as they were able to catch them buying non-war goods illegally...... middle of paper ...... towards the objectives of the country through a feeling of nationalism (McEnaney 21; Orwell n.pag.). The people's resentment towards the enemy comes from the war waged by the government which distracts the people from the government's actions towards themselves. The schemes the government uses war for help it achieve its goals by controlling citizens. The government of the United States and Oceania uses war as a political tool to control the social views of the people, the products and the wealth of the country. and the opinions of politicians and government officials. Ways war is used as a political tool include controlling a country's citizens and products. The country in 1984 and the United States use war in the same way. When comparing current times with the history of 1984, it is easy to see the similarities in the way war is used as a political tool..
