First of all, take your time. Few good problem solvers solve problems quickly. Second, don't give up. You will never solve a problem if you don't try. Finally, be flexible. If you don't succeed the first time, try another method. And if the second method doesn't work, try a third. There are a few steps you need to follow to resolve a problem. First, read the problem very carefully. Try to understand each word and make sure you know what the problem is. If you don't know the meaning of a word, look it up in a dictionary. Second, sort out the information that is not necessary. Third, make a plan. Even guesses need to be planned. Organize the information into tables, draw pictures, and compare the information to another problem you know about. Fourth, execute the plan. Try to solve it and work carefully. If the attempt doesn't work, go back and reread the problem. Finally, check your work carefully. Do not repeat the problem, evaluate, or find another way to try to solve the problem.
