  • Essay / Argument from Skepticism - 1097

Skepticisms arise when we believe that there is not sufficient reason or good reason to accept certain facts. In fact, it helps us to stop and think about whether what we consider to be truth is actually true or false, and it also helps us question some things we take for granted. This may be a good thing, but on the other hand, there is no guarantee that we will arrive at better answers than the previous ones by constantly questioning ourselves. Take the example of a child, when talking with a very young child full of curiosity, the child often asks a question and, even after his questions have been answered, the child still asks "why" to the answers data. The Why conversation continues until the person answering the questions gets bored or ends it with a statement that lacks explanation. As a result, the conversation often ends when the person reaches a point where they can no longer answer questions. As we saw above, skepticism can be illustrated in the “Why conversation?” », which justifies the hypotheses of the title. Therefore, this essay will attempt to investigate how skepticism can function as a tool to expand or limit our knowledge. Throughout history, people have struggled to understand the world and gain knowledge through questioning and experimenting. And there have been many cases where people looked at the same facts and didn't come up with the same opinions and therefore came to different conclusions. As a result, conflicts arose and certain facts were not accepted by everyone. For example, there is much debate about whether or not "the first moon landing" actually happened. Although this event enjoyed widespread support, the arguments of the skeptics could not be ignored. Some people have questioned the video footage in the middle of a sheet of paper. But at the same time, too less skepticism would also cause problems, too less skepticism would mean that a person is optimistic and, therefore, be positive to accept any source of knowledge that comes to him. However, if optimism crosses the line, the person may tend to become gullible rather than open-minded. In this case, one must have some elements of skepticism to a certain extent. All thoughts must be rethought at some point. In this case, skepticism is a great tool because it encourages you to question and rethink pre-existing information. However, too much skepticism is not always helpful in acquiring knowledge. Skeptics may tend to believe in nothing and exhibit behavior similar to pessimists. There needs to be a balance between having too much or too little skepticism..
