Essay / Firearms - 1207
Gun War. Conflict. Famine. Plague – these are the four horsemen of the Apocalypse as people in the Middle Ages imagined them. They invaded countries and cities, leaving behind thousands of dead, injured, fearful and crying. The first two – the most merciful, or to be more precise, the fatal tools they use to commit their evil deeds – are the subject of my essay. To be specific, I'm going to talk about modern types of firearms - those that one man can handle and that fire bullets - very simple, easy to use and deadly. Revolvers - these can be described as pistols with a rotating chamber that allows you to fire several shots without reloading. Revolvers were popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries because they were fairly easy to use, reliable, and inexpensive, but they were soon replaced by pistols due to their limited capacity and mobility. However, the police still use revolvers: their large caliber bullets ("Magnum" 45 or 36 millimeters) can knock out an outlaw with the first shot, even if he is shot in the foot. Revolvers generally hold 5, 6 or 7 bullets. There are 2 main types of revolvers: simple and simultaneous extraction of fired shells. In the first case, once the shot is finished, you must remove each shell by using a sharp object to push it from the front holes of the chamber. In the second case, the revolver usually opens, "breaks into two pieces" and you remove each shell, or the chamber is shifted to the left and emptied by pressing the special rod located in front (this is i.e. “Colt” or “Smith”. -Wesson). Revolvers are also divided into manual and automatic revolvers. In manual revolver you have to pull back the firing lever every time to fire, in automatic it goes back by itself, every time you pull the trigger. Pistol – The main difference between revolvers and pistols is that revolvers use the muscle strength of the shooter to reload, and on the other hand, pistols use the energy of gunpowder gases and have no rotating chamber. There are many different models of guns, but the principle of operation is the same. A pistol's bullets are usually located in its handle and are of a smaller caliber than those in a revolver. The gun cartridge capacity can range from 5 to 30 bullets and the guns fire automatically, as many times as you pull the trigger (of course, until there are no more bullets).).
