Absenteeism is a problem that costs businesses money, time and energy (Prater & Smith, 2011) - so it's no wonder that They try to avoid it as much as possible. It has been defined as a “habitual failure to show up, especially for work or other regular duties” (dictionary.com). Absenteeism is an indicator of many problems in an organization, including low job satisfaction, lack of engagement, and lack of work engagement. related stress (Hoxsey, 2010). It is this last point which is of interest to this document. There are many downsides to work-related stress, not the least of which is absenteeism. However, absenteeism poses a very serious threat to businesses, while work-related stress is a very costly reason in terms of employees' health, career and personnel. One of the causes of work-related stress encompasses financial distress, according to Kim et al. (2006). Other causes include fear of work, long working hours, competition, trying to separate work and personal life, etc... A side note is that women have an extra burden and more difficult times than men; they have more difficulty proving themselves, because they already start by being paid less than men for providing the same amount of work and occupying the same position. This in itself is an additional cause of stress for ambitious and motivated women trying to build a career (Blau & Kahn, 2000). Psychosocial risks – factors that can interfere with an employee's psychological state of mind at work and at home – is also a symptom of absenteeism, can negatively affect stress levels and is physically threatening, as well as emotionally exhausting. I really liked it my job, I loved what I did and the stress would have been managed if they had been the type of people to understand when I spoke to them.
