Comparison Essay of Francisco Franco and Roman AbramovichBusinessman, Football Team Owner and Politician Roman Abramovich Highly Compares Himself to Fascist Dictator, Army General and head of state, Francisco Franco. Although the two men come from different countries and times – Abramovich was born seventy-four years after Franco – their lives have similar characteristics with many similar nuances. The historical events touched by these two men only give a glimpse of their personalities. However, these same events reveal their moral fiber and overall makeup, establishing each man's level of integrity and reputation. We can see, by comparing the lives of these men side by side, that both men were clearly born of the same principles and the same inner motivation. Francisco Franco was born from humble beginnings in 1892, the son of a Navy paymaster. Although his mother was descended from Portuguese royalty, he did not have the luxuries of life usually afforded to those who achieve such high social and political status. Although his professional expectations shaped his future, external elements changed the direction of his life. He was to follow his father's example and join the Navy. However, this changed when the naval academy was temporarily closed to officer candidates due to the end of the Spanish-American War, resulting in a surplus of officers. Unable to enter the Navy, he entered the Army. This shows how political events changed his life in unexpected ways.
