Chapter ThreeResearch Methodology3.1 IntroductionThis chapter discusses a step-by-step scientific methodology used in this study. To achieve the objective of this research, as stated in Chapter 1 of this thesis, a questionnaire-based survey was carried out. The strategy used to choose the sampling space after conducting a pilot study and how the structured questionnaire was modified and finalized to be ready to test its acceptance in the construction industry. The characteristics of the respondents are analyzed, the validation tests are summarized for the adopted questionnaire. Additionally, the study also used a semi-structured interview to delve deeper into the topic in addition to complementing the main findings of the survey. In line with the above, this chapter aims to present the questionnaire as well as the semi-structured interview methods adopted by this study. The methods used to analyze the data and formulate the statistical model are presented.3.2 Survey MethodIn Chapter 1 of this study, it was started that one of the objectives of this research is to examine the level of acceptance of customers about current services provided by the GBI building. consultants in the Malaysian construction industry. However, to achieve this objective, the current services provided by GBI building consultants need to be identified and studied (see Annex ---). 3.2.1 Steps followed in survey research This section discusses the general approach adopted in this research divided into six phases. :1. Problem Identification: A series of brainstorming sessions with my supervisors, experts and professional practitioners in the field of construction management and green construction were held. This was supported by a preliminary investigator......middle of the article......to be more attentive to the interviewee; however, strategic and focused notes were also taken during these sessions. 3.8.5 Data Analysis Once all interview recordings were transcribed, they were listened to while the transcription was read to confirm the accuracy of the transcription. The interview data were then analyzed using discourse analysis, carried out on individual and multiple cases. This analytical process was carried out manually without using software. 6.3 Interview results The interview results can be classified into four themes: 1) Perception about green building consultants; 2) Perception of the cost of going green; 3) Obstacles to the integration of GBI practices in the industry; 4) Suggestions on the way forward to improve GBI consultancy services. The result of the interview is explained in chapter 4 of this thesis.
