Out of jealousy, Don Jon sets up a trap demonstrating Hero's unreal infidelity the day before the wedding. After Claudio discovers that his future wife is unfaithful, he publicly shames her at the wedding. Hero is humiliated and Claudio witnessed Hero's infidelity with his own eyes, but he never gave him the opportunity to share his side of the story. After the wedding is destroyed, Hero fakes his own death and eventually the truth comes out. When Claudio learns of Hero's death and the plot, he feels very bad. Their lack of knowledge of each other's character almost puts their entire relationship in jeopardy. In Much Ado About Nothing, both couples face events that test their love. Claudio and Hero quickly fall in love, leading their relationship to fall apart even faster than it began. Beatrice and Benedick must learn to be honest with themselves and let go of their pride in order to have a happy marriage. The play shows that for a successful marriage or relationship, communication, honesty and maturity are essential.
