    Reflections on the Parental Responsibility Act Eighteen cases in 1990 led to a parent serving a prison sentence for crimes committed by their child. In my opinion, I believe that parents should not be held responsible if their child commits a crime. There are several reasons why I think this is not a good law. First, I believe that no parent can follow their son or daughter 24 hours a day. In the real world, parents have much more to do than monitor their child every minute of the day to ensure that he is not breaking the law. Parents play an important role in a child's life, but they also have to meet the demands of going to work, taking care of the house and having free time to relax.
