  • Essay / The Pros and Cons of Gun Control - 1276

that were created and then discarded, the statistics covering the issues on gun control, and finally, the discussion of the results from my gun control perspective firearms. I stand on the side opposed to gun control for multiple reasons that I outlined in the discussion, but I understand where the proponents are coming from. Guns are very dangerous and should, yes, always be regulated, but only to a certain extent. Guns are our freedom to survive and our ability to hunt game. Our country has spent centuries with this law enshrined in the Constitution, so I would not support getting rid of it when the statistics show we are more likely to go down than up. In my opinion, when you give someone a gun for protection, they will understand the meaning of that gun. When you confiscate someone's firearms when you're dealing with someone who owns a gun, in my opinion that person will ask you to give them a gun. The right to bear arms is a very protective, yet dangerous amendment, but to ensure the security of our homeland, these types of decisions must sometimes be made. The controversy over our right to bear arms will likely remain active for now, and understandably so, but I hope our government and the majority of our society wake up to the bigger picture.
