Essay / Apple Vs. FBI - 1119
Apple v. FBIIn today's generation, many adults and teenagers keep everything from their contact numbers to their Social Security numbers on their smartphones. When customers, including criminals and terrorists, buy their smartphone, they buy it with the assurance that not some, but all of their information and privacy will be protected. The issue at hand today concerns the suspected terrorist in the San Bernardino, California shooting on December 2, 2015, injuring more than 30 people. Suspected terrorist Apple iPhone Syed Farook is locked with a 4-code passcode and the government wants Apple to create a backdoor operating system that allows them to computerize that many passcodes as possible to unlock the terrorists' iPhone. Apple firmly believes that creating this necessary backdoor system will create a chain of negative effects that will affect everyone from smartphone users to social media companies and their privacy. The FBI recently sued Apple for creating backdoor operating systems needed to bypass security features created on Apple iPhones. Apple has the legal right to refuse to create "backdoor" software to access the iPhone of suspected terrorists because it violates the privacy of Apple customers, this will set a precedent for other companies and the FBI will mislead Apple. The first reason why Apple should not create a backdoor is because Apple iPhones were created with customer privacy in mind. Apple, a well-known billion-dollar company, has been successful in protecting the privacy of its customers. Privacy of personal information is very sensitive for Apple and the FBI should not be allowed to access anyone's personal information...... middle of paper ......d. The creation of the new operating system will also set a dangerous precedent for future companies that will negatively affect everyone. The risk that will arise from this conflict could potentially allow the FBI and hackers to protect the privacy of all Apple customers. Although creating the backdoor system would help the FBI obtain all the necessary information regarding the San Bernardino terrorists, it would create a domino effect that would ultimately affect everyone. The FBI claims that it will only use the operating system once if it receives it, but it is clear beforehand that this will not be true. Apple has the legal right to refuse to create new IOS software to obtain suspected terrorist iPhones because it would invade the privacy of all Apple customers, it would set a precedent for future companies, and the FBI would mislead Apple into making him believe that he would not use the software. IOS system again.
