Essay / 4 men on a mountain - 1912
The day has almost come, John Davenport and his team were about to begin their ascent of the forbidden peaks of the Himalayas. The urn was precious, easily twice as valuable as Hitunka Utarano, the cursed idol. Six months ago, Davenport's companion, Henry Towereridge, disappeared with the cursed idol. Since the mysterious disappearance, the Adventure and Explore Company, commonly known as AES or simply the Corporation, had been operating silently and was on the verge of being shut down unless Davenport could get enough money from the ballot box to save society. The urn was the first thing recorded to depict the mythical beast, Yeti, and it was meant to be the most realistic depiction, and perhaps the best part of the urn was the fact that there was no no curse. The rest of Davenport's team consisted of Hector Banner, the guide, Homer Grem, the historian and the person who knew the most about the treasure, and a college-aged man, Walt Smith, who had need money to be there for the toughest climbs. The four-man team was small for an exploration of this size, but like everyone else in the company, he wasn't going to pay for a full team. Jack Davenport was the youngest in the AES and one of only two whose hair was not completely white, but rather light brown in color and worn in a Harvard clip-on style. He is tall and keeps fit, although he is normally dressed in a plain suit, but due to the cold in the mountains he wears standard mountaineering gear, topped with a woolen coat and a pants. As for his face, he has a tiny pencil mustache, a large chinstrap beard, and medium eyebrows. Davenport, Grem, Banner and Smith were staying in a small, unfamiliar and insignificant cabin in... middle of paper... ...mountain guide, I take people to mountain peaks, not rivers. » Smith said: “I'm going to Harvard to study psychology. I thought this trip would help, you know, the money and everything, but instead I feel like an idiot compared to you two and,” he paused, “and Grem. However, I am gifted with the human mind. Davenport concluded the conversation by saying, "Oh, well, I saved the company, I made a brilliant profit, I need some rest at the moment." Thank you, I would be dead without you two. Grem's 10% cut will be split between your 5%, so you will each receive 10%. Let us then rest with our heads down, I must announce the good news to society. » The three companions slept the night then upside down. Never before have anyone, except the four men and the urn makers, seen the yeti, and never again will anyone see the beast that guarded the mountains, whether malevolent or benevolent, no one will. will never know..
