Essay / Argument about TANF, a form of Medicaid - 959
Argument about TANF, a form of MedicaidNorth Carolina's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program is one of the major forms of Medicaid . TANF is also called Work First, which is based on the principle that parents have a responsibility to provide for themselves and their children. Through Work First, parents can receive short-term training and other services to help them find employment and become self-sufficient later, but it's up to them to find the real job. Most families have two years or less to leave Work First Family Assistance and after that they are completely on their own. According to a document found in Civic Report, the 60% increase in employment among single mothers is because the money given to them is not enough to support their families. I do not agree with this policy implemented by the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program. The government does not realize that it is misleading the household and the mindset of the family members living in the household. This awareness leads me to ask the question: does well-being have a color? Has the welfare line become the modern-day Mason Dixon line? I believe welfare was presented as a way to help families in crisis, but the real goal was to destroy African American families. The welfare system appears to have been designed to keep the male breadwinner out of the home. If the objective had been to help maintain family unity, checks would have been paid whether the father was still at home or not. If the government helps a household, the right thing to do is for the people in the household to also help financially. Welfare cannot pay all the bills, and people on welfare are prohibited from working through paperwork, meeting their financial needs, and continuing to provide for households that might find others means of subsistence. means of financial stability, at least for a specific period. This additional means of financial resources, for a short period of time, would actually benefit the U.S. government in the long run. Once these families become stable, the government can tax them.
