Essay / Child Abuse Survey Results - 921
The main method was conducted using a series of questionnaires distributed to children for my research. The reasons why I used questionnaires is because I think I will get appropriate and honest answers related to their personal experiences. The data collected was then categorized by gender, age 8 to 10, 11 to 13, 14 to 16, 17 to 19, and type of abuse. Surveys were distributed equally, a total of 13 surveys were distributed to children ages 8-18 who were victims of child abuse/neglect. The questionnaire consisted of 22 questions divided into five parts: multiple choice questions, background questions, open-ended questions, ranking questions and attitude questions. Answers to most questions were suggested for consistency and could be checked in multiple choice boxes. This investigation focused on two different groups of children, boys and girls. The purpose of this research is to find out whether child abuse has an effect on a child's intellectual and emotional development and whether it has an effect on their adulthood. Main Research ResultsRespondents answered 22 questions in the questionnaires. In the questionnaire, I asked for their age range, gender, who their abuser was, whether the child had been physically, sexually, emotionally, or psychologically abused, and whether they were abused because their parent(s) were abused as children. I also asked if the child had ever been arrested or charged with a criminal offense and, if yes, what was the reason they were arrested or charged. I investigated The information obtained from the respondents relates to most of the 13 children, 40 percent of them are aged 8 to 10 years old and 29 percent were aged 11 to 13 years old and 31 percent were abused between 14 and 16 years old. I found out that out of 13 children, 6 of them are girls who are victims of abuse and the rest of the children are boys. Most children have been abused by a stepparent or relative. One of the important pieces of information I discovered is that the majority of children were sometimes and very often physically or emotionally abused as children. Most children reported that they had been abused by one or more parents who had been abused as children or that the abuser had drug or alcohol problems..
