Essay / Vegetarianism: the benefits of a vegetarian diet
Meat eaters have an 8.3% higher BMI on average, according to a study conducted in Oxford. Studies have also shown that a diet rich in vegetables can actually improve your overall mood. A plant-based diet can help build healthy bones because you absorb more calcium than meat eaters. Meat contains high levels of kidney acid that the body must neutralize by removing calcium from bones. When the body becomes depleted of calcium, it can lead to osteoporosis as we age. In addition to excreting calcium, meat eaters also tend to excrete more uric acid. These two components of the body can lead to kidney and gallstones which can be extremely serious.
