Essay / Review of Research Articles - 1007
Since the dawn of time, parents have told, begged, and forced children to read. Most children read, but hated it; in fact, if they've never read a book, they're happy. Then there are children who read constantly, day and night. Whenever they have free time, reading becomes their distraction. Personality I read constantly, without remorse, it makes me abandon my responsibility and read instead. So I decide to see if reading has any negative effect on the average human. As soon as I finish this story I will start researching, hopefully it won't affect my grade. I was told to use the FIU library to obtain the sources for my essay and began. As I began my research, I quickly discovered that most articles talked about getting your child to read. In fact, according to recent research, evidence links a child's vocabulary level to gains in reading comprehension; early childhood educators have a special obligation to teach vocabulary more effectively 1. What I have learned is that the earlier a child starts reading, the better their vocabulary level. In this area, the child has a better and higher understanding than other children of his age. This fact is not new to me and does not help me much in my research. In fact, this goes against what I'm looking for. The next article I found was worth reading again. In fact, it is about promoting reading in Brazil. This article proves that it is not just the United States that encourages children, but that it is a worldwide phenomenon. For now, they have a local media program Brazil-Angola House of Culture that aims to encourage children to read stories 2. Such statements tell me that no matter what country you are in, you are encouraged to read. This doesn't help my research; ...... middle of paper ...... how to cure this unusual addiction - so far everything has been going well. Although I think people need to understand this addiction better. These are the facts I found out, I hope by the time I turn in the final version I will know if the advice works. Works cited1.
