  • Essay / Private prisons: are private prisons better quality?

The level of violence in prisons, according to the Bureau of Prisons, has not really increased. However, this has not diminished either. The level of violence actually fluctuates, but at the moments when it reaches its peak, it is relatively constant. Therefore, the growing population has not contributed to increasing levels of prison violence, but neither has it made the situation worse. Additionally, the level of security does not appear to make much difference in the extent of violence, except in maximum security prisons. In fact, there is more violence in medium to high security prisons than in minimum and low security prisons, according to the Office of Security.
