The Great Gatsby ?Many people think that Jay Gatsby, the main character in Great Gatsby, a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald: fits the title and is really great. These people feel this way because of Gatsby's wealth, his beautiful house, his car, and all his lavish parties with hordes of unknown guests. But what these people don't seem to realize are the many definitions of the word "great", and they seem content to look at the characteristics of the word. Other people, on the other hand, look at the definition of the word awesome that the title gave Gatsby. The word great is superior in quality or character, and Gatsby does not meet the criteria.
