Essay / Film Analysis: Critical Analysis of Racis and Dr. Gallo
My favorite character in the film is Dr. Francis; the reason is that he had the public's best interest at heart and cared for those suffering from the virus. He didn't care about the fame of discovering the virus, he just wanted to do what was good for society, stop the virus from killing hundreds of people and educate society. Also, one of my favorite moments in the movie was when the CDC declared that the virus was not a political issue, nor a gay issue, but a health and human issue, because from that point on- there the company began to work as a group. to help find the cause of the unknown virus. On the other hand, what I liked the least was seeing how many people were affected and died from the virus. Also, my least favorite character was Gallo because he didn't have the audience's best interest at heart. He was more concerned with fame and taking all the credit than with ending the epidemic. For example, during one scene in the film, Francis told Gallo that it should be them against the virus and not against each other. Additionally, I thought the case zero patient was selfish and not taking the virus seriously. He didn't bother to tell the people he had sex with that he might have been infected. In fact, he continued his sexual practices, knowing that he could endanger others. During part of the film, Bill from the CDC shows how up to forty-five cases of infected patients were detected.
