Essay / Nursing Theory in Nursing Practice - 1412
Nurses must be trained to meet patients' needs more effectively. Leaders should initiate the Orlando Nursing Theory Model within the unit. Using Orlando Nursing Theory as a framework, nurses can identify their own perceptions, thoughts, and feelings regarding patient behaviors and validate them with the patient (Potter and Tinker, 2010, p. 41). Leaders must give staff the confidence and skills to identify patients’ immediate needs. Leaders can hold one-on-one conferences with nurses and listen to their opinions and concerns within the unit. Educate staff on how to meet patient needs and the nursing process. Listening to bedside nurses and creating an action plan can help promote patient satisfaction, which can propel the unit on the right track.
