Special Forces Chemical Detachments The Chemical Corp is made up of numerous unconventional units, all with unique training specifically tailored to their mission. A mission most people would never consider volunteering for. One of these groups is the Special Forces Chemical Detachment or (CDA). This specialized group is better known as the Chemical Reconnaissance Detachment (CRD) or Chemical Decontamination Detachment (CDD). Each team is built in a unique way, their goal each crucial, created at a time when the world needs them most. Special Forces have always been an elite unit that the American people, all military personnel, and the rest of the world could consider to be the best of the best. Building this reputation is like any other unit, there are support elements specifically designed to be able to help Special Forces accomplish any mission impeccably on land, sea or in the air. The special forces groups contain two chemical detachments; the Chemical Decontamination Detachment and the Chemical Reconnaissance Detachment. The mission of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Special Operations Forces (SOF CBRN) is to provide chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) reconnaissance and surveillance support to Special Operations Forces (SOF) at l support of strategic and operational activities. and tactical objectives in all environments (Army, 2007). Special Forces Chemical Detachments Each Special Operations Force group is assigned two specialized chemical, biological, and radiological (CBRN) units to conduct reconnaissance and decontamination operations.
