Essay / Percy the Peacock - 822
P is for Peacock as we all know. It's for color, well at least for most peacocks except one. His name was Percy and this is his story. Percy was a peacock unlike any other. No, it wasn't just his gray and black feathers. Oh no, he spent all his time in a cave. Yes, like a bear in a cave; because Percy knew that if any of the other peacocks in the forest saw him, he would be laughed at or worse. Percy spent his time gathering food and talking to his only friend, the rain cloud. He thought the rain cloud could never find him ugly because he too was gray and black as night. Often the raincloud would ask Percy why he spent all his time in the cave and not in the forest with the other peacocks. But Percy always said he didn't like the heat of the sun in the forest. Percy knew it was safe because the rain cloud never went towards the forest; only the sun and the moon were allowed there. Then one day, everything changed. The sun was tired of shining on the forest plants and watching them grow so slowly. So the sun decided to get help, he discussed it with the moon; she said they should discuss it with the rain cloud. The rain cloud said he would be happy to help by giving water to the thirsty plants and animals of the forest. He was so excited to be asked that he rushed over to see Percy. The rain cloud couldn't wait to say that he could now visit the forest because the sun would no longer shine there. The cloud arrived at Percy's cave; but he was nowhere to be found. Percy had seen the sun leave the forest and knew that the cloud would come and take him into the forest with it. He knew he couldn't until he looked like the others. He decided to become ...... middle of paper ...... uh, then he started crying. I can't go home, he thought. Maybe I could sneak into the forest and hide there until the sun came back. He waited for the rain cloud to stop to form his rainbow. Then he ran into the forest; he was too busy running to notice that he was about to run into another peacock. Oof, Percy said as he came across a peacock who introduced himself as Perry. Percy waited for him to laugh but the laugh never came. He just asked him why he had never seen him in the forest before and if he wanted to be friends. That's when Percy realized he never even gave the other peacocks a chance. After all, was he really so different from them? The moment he realized it was okay to be himself, the sun came out from behind the clouds and shone down on him. The sun revealed to everyone that he was truly the most beautiful of all.
