Essay / My Three Major Roles as Positive Self-Expression
To know yourself, you really have to dig deep within yourself to discover what you are made of. An individual can learn a lot about himself by evaluating his life based on the definition of leisure. My three main roles in my life are that of a loving daughter/sister, a dedicated student, and a competitive athlete. Leisure is defined as the experience of living a moment of positive self-expression (Pavelka, 2000). Based on the definition, it can be divided into three elements, namely experience, living in the moment and positive self-expression. My first major self-image in this process is that of a loving daughter/sister. Every day is something new with my siblings, whether it's one who got an amazing job promotion or the other who calls just to see how everything is going. Another precious time in life is when my family comes together and simply experiences being together. In addition, I also experience basketball. As an athlete, I experience a lot, whether it's a new game or simply building long-term friendships with my teammates. Being a basketball player has many obstacles if you want to be the best. An example of an obstacle is training so hard for a game that you burn out and injure yourself. These are the kinds of moments that make you stronger and give you that satisfying experience. Being part of a team and evolving as a team contributes to a stable journey. Not everyone on my team is good at a specific task or exercise, that's why I'm there for him or her to make sure they become what he or she truly can. Furthermore, when I set foot on the field for the first time, I have a feeling that cannot be explained. It's the feeling that no matter how difficult things are on a daily basis, it doesn't matter because I'm playing the game I love. Basketball is my escape from the world; being on the ground gives me a moment where I completely forget everything around me
