    I saw how my father looked at things and it made me understand that this is the way I should do things too. As a child, I never had any guidance, so I had to learn as I went and on my own. I have gone through many different stages of my value system and the short list I have presented to you is the best system I have ever had so far in life. I have no plans to change it anytime soon. The values ​​of social work and mine are very similar. NASW's values ​​are to help people, to make them feel understood. Another personal value related to social work is honesty. On a personal level, honesty is one of the qualities I look for when finding new friends. Knowing that you can trust someone's word is very important in social work and in your personal life. In social work this will help me because if they feel they can trust me and be heard they will talk to me, I think that is an asset in social work. Over the years, I noticed that one of my personal strengths was the ability to tell when someone was upset or hurt. Sometimes I would see a complete stranger, go up to them and ask if they were okay. I've always been there for people who needed me, so at that point in my life, I never realized how the things I loved doing were connected to some of the same qualities of a social.
