Police officers use searches and seizures to inspect and collect evidence to convict an individual suspected of a crime. However, before a search takes place, there must be a prerequisite of probable cause, that is, proof of an illegal act. Additionally, when the commission's report is substantiated, the evidence is forwarded to the county attorney. In the criminal justice system, there are two ways to refer a felony case to a local prosecutor. The first is a felony arrest, where the evidence collected constitutes established probable cause. The second type of criminal case is referred to a prosecutor for investigation. As a prosecutor, it is essential to exercise discretion when handling a case. The prosecutor must ensure that the police respect the rules of evidence. The main ground of proof is inadmissibility in court, the exclusionary rule. That is, when police use manipulative tactics that violate the defendant's Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments.
