    Across the world and in the United States, there remains a huge gap between the number of people waiting for life-saving organ donation and the number organs available for donation (Beil, 2013). Nurses play an important role in the organ donation process because they are usually the first to identify a potential organ donor and provide nursing care to that person (Manuel, Solberg, & MacDonald, 2010). Nurses also have the responsibility to provide families with relevant information regarding organ donation, to take the step of asking the family if they wish to donate their loved ones' organs or to refer them to a person who specializes in organ donation. organs when the situation is suitable, to support the family, whether or not they choose to donate the organs of their loved ones, and take the necessary measures to preserve potential organs for donation when the family accepts the donation of organs.
