Essay / Ending Racism - 419
Racism is the discrimination of different races and is the idea that one race or skin color has more physical/mental capabilities than another. It is based on the additions of one or more people based on the supposed superiority of one group compared to the supposed inferiority of another. There was a lot of racism in the 1900s, and with the help of some, most of it stopped. But now it's coming back. So why do we think such things about others? Is it really right to think of people differently because of the color of their skin? The fact is that as soon as a child is a toddler they start to notice differences in color and then at school teachers teach them not to discriminate and just look. about difference and living equally. That would seem sufficient. But unfortunately, schools are not the only influence that children have, because if schools teach one thing, parents can also teach them differently. For example; Let's say one day a child is at school and the teacher says that three plus three equals six. But if parents tell their child that three plus three equals five and NOT six, then that is what the child begins to believe. Tell the child that every day he begins to think it's true. So the parent is teaching something totally different than the school. So if it works at home, it works at school too. So it is an easy way to teach something in the child's mind. Let's then say the child arrived at high school and was asked; what is three plus three? The child will answer “five” and believe that it is correct, because that is what their parents taught. Of course, the same would apply to racism. If the child is taught at school not to hate another person because of their race, then coming home to a racist environment, then that child will think it is acceptable. But, of course, that's not the case. A child's mind is made up of what they are taught from a young age. harm, touching a hot stove will burn them, as they know..
