  • Essay / Implementing Multiple Intelligences in the Classroom

My philosophy of education would be to implement multiple intelligences in the classroom for several reasons. The first reason is that it improves cooperative learning. The second reason is that a teacher can create an effective learning environment by engaging students in hands-on activities. The third reason is that visual learners can watch different cultural films and slides to become familiar with different customs. Fourth, it teaches students one of the most important elements of life, which is social skills. We all perceive things differently, such as objects, color, size and proportion. Our mind and body get an existing idea, can analyze it and solve it in different modes. This teaches them to become divergent rather than convergent thinkers. They also learn different strategies, such as how to interact with other peers. Additionally, it expands their basic learning, strategies, and physical needs, especially in today's classrooms. By being exposed to a diverse environment, one has the benefit of a more enriched experience. This is why it is very important to let yourself explore. Our brain functions have several levels. Our sensory brain tries to make sense of our surroundings, lighting, noise and smells, as this affects our ability to learn. Our playful brain tries new things without any consequences, loves playing games, interacting with others and reducing our stress levels. Our social brain likes to learn in groups and pairs because we want constant feedback. We love role-playing games, are aware of self-awareness. We understand our motivations, our consequences and are emotionally mature. Our moving brain is very controlled and very focused because our... middle of paper ...... just for the student. Students need to be measured on many different levels beyond reading and math. The other method would be to conduct self-assessment and peer assessment. Portfolios are another tool for teachers to assess their students. We also have the standardized test, which measures certain tasks. We must be very careful when we evaluate the validity of a test. Does a test really measure what it is supposed to measure? I firmly believe that we all learn using divergent approaches. I also recognize that learners can bring more than one intelligence. Children need a way to express themselves freely rather than following the traditional teaching approach. By knowing your students' learning style, a teacher can implement all the different strategies to improve their students' learning. This would help promote comprehensive education.
