I learned this at a particularly difficult time in my life. I have always been strictly protected by my parents. I wasn't allowed to go to friends' houses until I was 13. I wasn't allowed to go anywhere without my parents until I was 14. My parents always seemed to be very loving and affectionate people; I never knew the truth. During the summer of my ninth grade, my mother took me to McDonalds to let me know that she was cheating on my father. I never knew my mother cheated; she certainly wasn't the type to cheat. Long story short, my parents separated. The truth later came out about the countless times my mother had cheated and the pain my father endured. I learned that love can be corrupted. I learned that love can also be one-sided
