Three-time bestselling author, Dave Ramsey, has plenty of speaking experience. He has a secret and he tells it to everyone who will listen. Dave Ramsey has a passion for a debt-free life and he travels from coast to coast to spread the message. Dave has a huge following and these subscribers pay a small amount of money to spend the weekend listening to Dave talk about the life-changing steps you can take to become debt free. At first, the idea of listening to someone talk about money, credit cards, retirement, mortgages, investments and any other financial principle seems monotonous and quite boring. However, when Dave speaks, everyone listens. Dave doesn't look like a Hollywood star; he's like any other white-collar professional. He always wears blue jeans, button-down shirts, and loafers. His scene has no elaborate background or fancy effects, only simple backlighting. A small table sits to the right of the stage and has only one purpose: to store your notes. Dave never stands behind the table; he continues to move around on stage and sometimes in the crowd of listeners. So how could this be a fun, sold-out event? Dave takes a simple concept like debt, adds visual aids and the speech becomes a comedy, a serious moment and a life-changing event. Without the visual aids, the speech would be filled with boring statistics, but Dave makes the crowd laugh and surprise them with all the visual aids to illustrate his debt secret. The simple visual aid of scissors is a rather blunt way of showing the public what needs to be done with credit cards. Dave holds a large pair of shiny scissors and effortlessly cuts stack after stack of credit cards and lets the little pieces fall all around his feet. Listening...... middle of paper...... how to place visual aids in the speech so that it is relevant and fluent. My Personal Insight I have always been a visual learner. I once asked someone to draw me a picture so I could understand what they were trying to explain. I tend to let my mind wander when I'm listening to someone speak. I seem to be listening and learning when visual aids are used in a presentation. I attended Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University and came away with so much knowledge and information and was able to share what I had learned. All the financial jargon confused me, but once Dave pulled out the visual aids, I began to understand the concepts he was trying to teach. What I thought would be a boring and technical talk turned out to be one of the most informative, comical and fun events, all thanks to the giant scissors depicting debt reduction.!
