PURPOSE/OBJECTIVEThe purpose of the research is to study emotional intelligence and the quality of relationships between married couples.HYPOTHESISEmotional intelligence should be significantly related to marital quality.SAMPLEThe sample taken at the moment The study involved 50 married couples (N = 100) belonging to the age group of 30 to 45 years. All couples were married for more than two years. They came from diverse educational and professional backgrounds. Male study participants were working or employed and female participants were either housewives or workers. The data was collected from Delhi-NCR region. All study participants had a good understanding of English. Therefore, all tests were administered in English. SAMPLE SIZE AGE GROUP Husbands 50 30-45 Wives 50 30-45 TOOLS Emotional Intelligence Test (Dr Dalip Singh and Dr NK Chadha, 2003) The test consists of 22 statements/items which take into account the following dimensions of emotions such as - emotional maturity, emotional sensitivity and emotional competence. The foundations of the test lie in the assessment of real-world situations in the environment, as well as how a person's affect, thought and action influence the area of emotional intelligence and their ability to be conscious, regulate emotions, manage stress and maintain social relationships. Test-retest reliability and halved reliability of 0.94 and 0.89, validity of 0.89 were found respectively. Marital Quality Scale (Shah, 1995) This is a multidimensional scale. It consists of 50 items presented in statement form with a four-point score. Separate forms exist for men and women. Individuals with higher levels of emotional intelligence are able to build and maintain relationships that last a lifetime. The skill of emotional intelligence helps the individual resist and cope with various life stressors that affect themselves and their partners. and their relationship. Emotional intelligence facilitates the recognition of one's own feelings and desires, which promotes effective communication with the partner. A person's ability to accurately identify what troubles others and to try to resolve conflicts and problems are all necessary skills that are required to establish and maintain good and healthy relationships in life (Stephenson, 2008).
