My article begins by talking about one of the most famous playwrights of his time, William Shakespeare. William Shakespeare is known for his well-developed and successful plays. Shakespeare wrote over 37 stories during his lifetime. Shakespeare's birth is not recorded anywhere. Scholars who have studied Shakespeare have narrowed it down to a three-day radius. In England, where Shakespeare came from, they used a “Book of Common Prayer”, this book was like the Bible of the time. Everyone respected this book in daily circumstances. In the Book of Common Prayer it is stated that when a child is born, it should be baptized on the nearest Sunday or “holy day” following the birth. Shakespeare is believed to have been baptized on April 26, 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. If Shakespeare had been born on April 23, as everyone claims, the following Sunday would have been April 25. The fact is that St. Mark's Day was on the 25th, so the child should be baptized the next day. This theory is the closest that will ever come to predicting Shakespeare's birth, but everyone seems to approve of April 23 as Shakespeare's birthday. Shakespeare was born the 4th of 8 children. His parents, John and Mary Arden Shakespeare, were delighted to have a child with the same date of birth as England's patron saint, Saint George. Although we don't know much about Shakespeare's birth, researchers have been able to link Shakespeare to 'Kings New School', a well-known grammar school in Stratford attended by the sons of servants like his father. Boys generally entered school around the age of five, but as no records survive, it is really impossible to know exactly when Shakespeare began his studies at Kings N...... middle of paper.. ....historical society you can actually go into the room he was buried in and you can see the poem he wrote in and in his will that he said he wanted to put on his grave. “Good friend, for the love of Jesus, refrain from digging up the dust enclosed here. Blessed is the man who spares these stones, and cursed is he who moves my bones.” After his death, Shakespeare never having published this poem, his friends John Heminge and Henry Condell placed the poem in his first folio. It gave Shakespeare the props to write the poem, and it didn't bring shame, because if he used an unknown poem to have his tombstone and he was a poet, how much would that have- he has a bad impression of Shakespeare. Shakespeare is now known as one of the finest playwrights and screenwriters of his period and one of my favorite authors and playwrights. He will always be a good playwright and have his place in history.
