A little later, Jerash was mentioned by Bishop Epiphanius of Salamis as the scene of an annual miracle; every year, on the day of Epiphany (January 6), which was also the anniversary of the miracle of Cana of Galilee, the water from the fountain of the church of Jerash was transformed into wine (Crowfoot, 1931, 2) .
