Essay / My museum visit report - 1365
When I first arrived at the museum, it was an old, rustic style building, which was not very modern, which I think fits to the theme of the museum. The exterior of the building had history, just as the interior of the museum is filled with history. There was also an impressive statue of former President Theodore Roosevelt. I thought it was an interesting exhibit, but Theodore Roosevelt was an advocate for the preservation of national parks and animal conservation. Plus, I thought it was a great tribute to him. I think the exterior of the museum shows how rich world history is and that there is so much to learn. The past has been polished so that people in the present can understand and admire it. Overall, I felt like each exhibit was easy to understand and not intimidating; subsequently it was easy to watch for both children and adults. The inside of the museum was intense as you enter two huge dinosaur structures at the front. There were also many entrances to different exhibits, above which were huge murals depicting various things. The murals showed all the cultures of the world. All cultures can mix. For example, the mural at the top of the Asian People exhibit showed the many different Asian cultures, such as Japanese, Korean, and Chinese, mixed together in one huge mural. There was the mural above the exhibit on African people which included important animals such as lions and elephants. And finally for the exhibition of South American peoples which included Theodore Roosevelt in the mural signifying the creation of the Panama Canal. I love how the murals all had the same color combinations. These murals showed the impact of various historical events having a backdrop of paper structures. In the Asian People exhibit, I saw that the end of the exhibit was more recent, and as things started to become more recent, it was more colorful, musical, and creative. Color and music are synonymous with Asian culture. From an emic perspective, some people within this culture may see the importance of color and music; Additionally, from an ethical perspective, people will continue to view the vibrant colors and musical aspects of Asian cultures as important. Also, with Mesoamerican culture, you can see that exhibits were huge or centered in certain locations for people to show off how impressive their culture was. At every turn or corner you can see something huge or eye-catching to show how monumental Mesoamerican cultures were. Additionally, from an external, or even internal, perspective on culture, there is respect towards these specific cultures..
