In this academic field, hegemonic masculinity serves as the main framework for all studies of masculinity, which allows for alternative masculinities provided that they can rationalize their actions as masculine. This section of analysis will highlight the idea that there is another potential masculinity within the Brony fandom that does not follow similar models of construction including appropriation. An examination of how masculinity evolves based on contextual circumstances is necessary, followed by an investigation of Eric Anderson's inclusive masculinity. Ultimately, this will result in a new framework for the concept of concordant masculinity that describes how this gender construct is capable of changing current understandings of the concept. Hegemonic masculinity creates a system of hierarchical categories of masculinity that prioritizes certain traits over others while rejecting alternatives as abject. Preferred attributes are given greater importance and promoted as an ideal.
