    Most people think of someone using their cell phone while driving when they hear distracted driving, but it's much more than that . Distracted driving occurs when a person driving is distracted by taking their hands off the wheel or losing their driving mind, which can lead to an accident (paragraph 2). Distracted driving breaks down into three main parts: manual distractions which involve taking your hands off the wheel, visual distractions which take your attention away from the road, and cognitive distraction which is when your mind is not focused on driving and simply starts to walk away (paragraph 3). Cell phone use is by far the leading cause of distracted driving compared to eating, talking, and others because using your cell phone requires visual, manual, and cognitive attention on the part of the person behind the wheel and According to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, the number of people who break the law and use a handheld device while driving is increasing every year. It is estimated that more than six hundred thousand people use their phones while driving. Distracted driving has rapidly increased and expanded over the past few years and has become a huge problem. In a recent study, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) showed statistics of approximately three thousand one hundred and fifty-four people and just under half a million people injured in fatal car crashes (paragraph 5 ). Most people understand most of the dangers and consequences of distracted driving, but the big question is why do people still do it? There are many reasons why people still use their cell phones while driving, the main reason that applies to most people is that they think they are not at risk of getting into a fatal car accident (paragraph 3). This is why distracted driving must stop immediately, because
