Since British colonists took control of Canada from the French, the needs of the remaining French Canadians, or Quebecois, have consequently been neglected. Several events in Canadian history have given rise to passionate feelings between French and English Canadians. Although the majority of English Canadians attempted to reconcile with the French by making numerous attempts to repair the relationship, questions regarding the needs of French Canadians still exist today. Various key sources establish indefinitely that the needs of French Canadians were not met, which will be proven by an in-depth analysis of Quebec nationalism, heritage issues in Quebec, as well as imminent acts of terrorism in Quebec. Quebec nationalism has always been a large-scale problem in Quebec; which in previous periods has experienced sudden spikes, causing concern from the Canadian government as well as citizens. As Quebec's needs were not fully met, they made a conscious decision to solve the problem themselves, resulting in the start of the Quiet Revolution. This led the people of Quebec to vote the Liberal Party, led by Jean Lesage, into power in 1960, which gave French Canadians limited influence in their government. At that time, Quebec had reached the peak of its patience and realized that the Canadian government was going to do almost nothing in terms of aid. This meant that Quebec's main duty was to keep the province alive, rather than that of the federal government.
