  • Essay / Treasure Hunting in Egypt - Fiction Writing - 963

It all started with a man named Rick who was a treasure hunter. He traveled throughout Egypt finding gold and jewels in various historic temples. This time he was in Karnak and searching the temple of Amun-Re, the home of the sun god. Rick has assembled a select team to help him with his exhibition. They were searching for the Book of Amun-Re, also known as the Book of the Living. This book was the opposite of the Book of the Dead, instead of giving life to those who died to continue in the afterlife, the Book of Amun-Re took away life. The real reason Rick was looking for this book was because it was made of solid gold. The team had a systematic method of finding locations, so they started with step one. This involved mapping the temple so they would know how much land there was to search. The team also exercised caution in finding all exits to the temple in case of an emergency. After that, they set up a base camp in the center of the temple, so that there would be a central place where they could all meet up. The final step was to begin research. Rick had the foresight to read the hieroglyphics on the walls to see if there were any clues to where the Book of Amon-Ra was hidden. Rick noticed on the wall that there was a story about a very demanding pharaoh. He would send armies to conquer the Nile, which was a vital factor in the economy of every city. It was used for trade, irrigation and even drinking water. Whoever controlled the Nile controlled Egypt. There were many battles and the pharaoh gained more and more Nile but many soldiers died. Instead of being judicious in bringing his troops home and appreciating the ground he had conquered, he decided to fight for more. People didn't like it at all...... middle of paper ......r Rick arrived home. The team got together and told everyone the story from their perspective. Everyone there couldn't believe how lucky they were to survive, and they were very grateful that the team had managed to escape with the precious cargo. Finally, the moment came when the museum curator brought the entire team on stage and personally thanked each of them for their more than generous contribution to the museum. There was a large crate with a curtain on it, and the curator removed it, revealing the Book of Amun-Re. The Book shone brightly and filled everyone's eyes with pleasure. The beauty of gold was a real feast for the eyes. Rick's eyes began to water as he saw his little girl playing and smiling in front of the shiny book. Seeing your daughter smile for a moment was worth risking your life and being away from your family..
