Essay / Proposed Solution to the Foreclosure Crisis - 1240
America Today is in Crisis; we are in a recession. The main factor causing this major recession is the lockdown that many Americans face every day. Simply put, the foreclosure crisis was caused by the greed of the banking industry and too much optimism by the American people. This resulted in a subprime mortgage bubble, which ultimately collapsed once the banking industry's major mortgage companies, such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, had to be bailed out by the government. A great panic occurred in the stock market, leading to job losses and business failures. The mortgage could not be paid, causing many homes to be foreclosed on. The foreclosure crisis has not only caused the banking industry to lose billions of dollars; this has also played a role in decreasing house values internationally. Although the Obama administration and Congress have taken many steps to stabilize the economy, such as the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, Wall Street Reform, and the Consumer Protection Act of 2009, the America hasn't seen many concrete results. To solve the foreclosure crisis, it is important to approach the problem in two steps: “stop and prevent.” The "stop" solution would represent...... middle of paper ......isis is a solution that most people agree on. The solutions I have proposed today are very moderate because they are based on both liberal and conservative ideas. The ideas I came up with can be broken down into sections, and even subject to modification. These ideas are flexible, but when making any change, no matter how drastic, we must keep in mind that the basic structure of my proposal is what will drive its success. To get our country out of the abyss we are experiencing during the foreclosure crisis, we must work together and combine ideas; if they work, we keep them, and if they don't work, we replace them. President Lincoln once said, “I failed, failed, failed, and then perseverance passed on.” There have been many failures that led to the foreclosure crisis, but with enough effort, I believe persistence will result in a solution that will be passed down over time..
