Essay / Review of Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society - 1301
The honor society celebrates students with high academic achievement and seeks to promote disability awareness and combat stigma at Cabrini College. Who are the people involved in the group? Maxson and Wagner described the individuals in the group as "approximately thirty students in total, ranging in age from 18 to 24 and primarily white." Students must be registered with the Cabrini College Disability program and have accumulated more than 30 credits and a cumulative GPA of 3.1. Students should be comfortable publicly identifying as having a disability. Both had added that within the honor society, when you enter the group, it is a fun and loving family that is welcome to all students. Additionally, Wagner mentioned to me that in the last two meetings this semester, there were more female freshmen than the small number of men in the group. Kathleen says, “I advise the group as a staff member and help students formulate ideas and proposals to generate ideas they can adapt and change, but I would like students to do the majority of the implementation and planning of events. This can be difficult when meetings are infrequent and cause scheduling conflicts. Honor society meetings normally meet on Thursday evenings around 5 p.m.30.
