  • Essay / Redemption in the Music Industry: Artist Portrayals...

Redemption is an integral part of every person. It's about stories with ups and downs, about the music industry with the success of bands and their inevitable destruction, and most of all about people because we all make mistakes and most of us learn from them . Redemption is what made both of these stories successful. Without the redemption of the characters, A Visit from the Goon Squad and Almost Famous would not have been as successful as they were and the viewer would have hated each of the characters. The stories would simply be about characters who make big mistakes but never fix them; of characters who never really become someone because the viewer will never become truly sympathetic. In this statement there are several characters that could be examined to show how justifying themselves makes them successful, but for the purposes of this article we will simply examine the characters of Egan, A Visit from the Goon Squad, Bennie and Sasha, and Crowe's almost famous characters Penny. and William.Jennifer Egan is an American novelist and short story writer, born in Chicago and raised in San Francisco (Bio). I wanted a sideways feel, not a forward feel. My basic rules were: each piece should be very different, from a different point of view. I actually tried to break this rule later; if you make a rule, you should break it too!
