Benjamin FranklinBenjamin Franklin, a man considered one of the first "Americans" (many consider him the first) where he played a large role in establishing independence of the United States of America. He practiced many professions, major and minor, which were of vital importance at that time. These professions include those of a politician where his theories were remarkable, a scientist where he himself was an inventor, a postman, a diplomat and, last but not least, a man responsible for many discoveries in the field of physics. Franklin's life was tangled in twists and turns where his family faced a number of problems, including poverty where his father Josiah Franklin was a simple soap maker, in addition to poor financial support due to the fact that he was one of seventeen siblings.ChildhoodJanuary 17, 1706, this day marked Franklin's birthday, where he was born on Milk Street, located in Boston, Massachusetts. Franklin's old man had planned to have Benjamin go to school accompanied by the clergy, but his old man was suffering from financial problems that allowed him to afford two years of education, even though the clergymen needed of a certain number of years of schooling. Finally, his studies ended at the age of ten. He then worked for his father for two years, then was apprenticed to his older brother James, whose occupation was a printer. Franklin endured a grueling experience composing pamphlets with his brother and selling their works on the streets. At the age of 15, Franklin and his older brother James were the founders of the colonies' first truly independent newspaper: The New-England Courant.
