    When discussing the meaning of gender identity, each person has a different perspective and perception. Most of the time, these views are instilled in them throughout their childhood, whether they are fully aware of it or not. As a result, some children feel pressured to conform to stereotypical gender roles and identities defined by society. For me, however, this has never been a problem. The many experiences I had throughout my childhood played an important and defining role in the formation of my gender identity. When I was a young child, my favorite toys were dolls and stuffed animals, and very often my parents would catch me hosting tea parties or playing house. Even though my parents provided me with cars and other gender-neutral toys, I was always drawn to dolls and other stereotypically girl toys. I was the first and only child for seven years, so I never had anything else to compare it to. Perhaps if I had grown up surrounded by an older brother's toys and second-hand items, my perception of the taste of dolls and the color purple might have been different. When I was younger...
