    In her article, Bearers of Hope, Julie Landsman (2006) reviews the tools and techniques educators need to be successful when They teach students living in difficult conditions. terms. The number of students living at or below the poverty line is increasing. These students do not have access to the resources that other children can obtain. Because of this factor, people seem to place limits on students who have no control over the circumstances in which they have been placed. These children are capable of learning and succeeding. Teachers must believe in the potential of their students and adapt to the situation of each student. Landsman found that successful teachers expected the same amount of effort and success from all students. These teachers were very attentive to each student. They were aware of the student's environment and the accommodations that needed to be made to give students a chance to succeed.
