  • Essay / Federalism - 984

Federalism is the principle of sharing sovereignty between central and provincial governments. In 1867, the British colonies decided to create the Canadian federation for three main reasons: political – the attempt to unite Quebec and Ontario into a single united province of Canada; economic – Britain was dismantling the colonial preferences that had given Canadian exports a competitive advantage at home. Great Britain; the small, poor colonies necessary for their economic development and security - the weak Canadian colonies feared domination by their powerful and expansionist neighbor. From 1867 to 2014, Canada used the federal system and became one of the most supportive and secure countries to live in. Canada has a stable economy and a high human development index. Since the introduction of the federal system, it has undergone many changes and has overcome all the difficulties and problems that Canada has faced. In my letter, I will examine the advantages and disadvantages of the federal system and give you my opinion on them. Personally, I consider () federalism to be the most appropriate path for Canada. Canada is a large country with many provinces and each province faces many problems every day that need to be resolved as quickly as possible. In the federal system, the central government shares sovereignty with all other provinces and gives them the opportunity to solve their problem individually. Therefore, it gives (more power and sense of independence to the provinces) and more time to the central government to take care of more critical issues. Secondly, this system creates competition between provinces and allows citizens to move between...... middle of paper ...... Canada is a multicultural country and the federal system gives an excellent opportunity to each province to be unique and gives citizens (choice to choose) a place with more favorable conditions that suit them. Moreover, nowadays all countries in the world communicate with each other (,) solve economic, political, social and environmental problems which (take) time while local problems also need to be solved. The federal system shares sovereignty among all provinces and gives the central government enough time to solve global problems, while provincial governments solve their own. There are many countries that have a federal system and almost all of them (are considered) the most developed countries like the United States, Germany, Russia, Switzerland, etc. In my opinion, Canada should be a federal state because it will help Canada grow. improve and develop faster and easier.
